Last Friday there was yet another challenge by the Ladies of North Middlesex Golf Club to the Gentlemen to see who commands the 19th Bar. In previous “arrows” contests it has been quite obvious that the Ladies hold the most talent but the challenge had been made and battle commenced.

March already and that's your lot from me! I appreciate that every Captain says the same thing but I really can't believe how quickly this year has gone!! A very sincere thank you to everyone who has helped my during my term the level of commitment as Captain is difficult to maintain and would be impossible without your support.

Hopefully as the weather turns from winter to being more spring-like we can all look forward to more enjoyable golfing conditions. The arrival of March heralds the start of the new golfing year in a few weeks time and already the entry lists for the various summer competitions are being opened so let us all get our names down for as many of those competitions as we can comfortably slot into our diaries. As we look forward to better golfing weather we must thank Gary and his staff for managing to keep the course open and playable throughout most of the winter and already looking in good condition for the season to come.

With spring just around the corner we look forward to cutting some grass again, the cutting units have been ( sharpened (re-ground) so with some warm daytime temperatures we should be able to present a golf course again. During the last few months we have been working on smartening up the course furniture, benches, ball-washers et cetera, and I hope that the new bench areas at the 9th, 15th (see photo on web) making the old look like new) and 16th have been well received by Members and guests alike. We will be doing the same at the 11th and the 18th shortly.

We had a rare treat at the Golf Club in February; the Colin Peters Quartet, with Trudi Kerr, played for us and we enjoyed a fabulous evening of wonderful instrumental playing and supremely artistic Jazz singing from Trudi.
